Announcing the arrival of a legacy model within the 5 series line up. This Taylor Legacy 514ce Grand Auditorium takes a step back and finds inspiration in some of the previous models from yesteryear that have helped make this family of acoustic guitars the world leading name that it is today. We especially like the choice Wester Red Cedar top with X Bracing voiced the way the original models were in the ‘90s and 2000s. Comes with LR Baggs Element VTC undersaddle pickup with soundhole-mounted controls and quality hard case.
Read on for the background and inspiration to this rather special hard to find limited series of The Legacy 514ce guitars. Conceived as part of Taylor's 50th anniversary celebration, pays homage to the Grand Auditorium body shape, a true Bob Taylor original that has redefined how acoustic guitars sound, look and feel since its debut in 1994.

This exclusive Legacy collection model boasts a tonewood pairing not found in the Taylor standard line: mahogany back and sides with a top of Western Red cedar. With its punchy midrange and dry, woody character, mahogany is perfectly suited to pair with cedar's warmth and soft-touch sensitivity, which will especially appeal to fingerstyle players and strummers with a lighter stroke. Voiced with the X-bracing that Bob used in the first Grand Auditorium models three decades ago and crafted with Taylor's signature slim, easy-playing neck profile, the Legacy 514ce is sure to inspire both traditionalists and contemporary-minded players alike. Appointments reflect Bob's preferred sleek aesthetic with faux tortoiseshell binding and pickguard, white and black top purfling, Small Diamond fretboard inlays in mother-of-pearl, a three-ring rosette in green abalone, ebony bridge pins with green abalone dots, gold tuning machines, and a gloss-finished body with a satin finish for the neck. This model includes LR Baggs Element VTC electronics with soundhole-mounted controls and ships with a deluxe hardshell case.
Key Features include
Cutaway Grand Auditorium: The mahogany/cedar Legacy 514ce and rosewood/cedar Legacy 714ce honor the iconic Grand Auditorium body style—which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year—with two classic cutaway GA models that aren’t currently available in the Taylor line.
Western Red Cedar tops: Offering a warmth and touch sensitivity that fingerstyle players and light to moderate strummers will love, these guitars record really well. These models offer players a choice between mahogany and rosewood tonal flavors.
X-Bracing: These are voiced the way the original models were in the ‘90s and 2000s.
Onboard Electronics: LR Baggs Element VTC (volume, tone, compression), featuring an undersaddle pickup and all-discrete, Class A preamp that includes a soundholemounted volume and tone control.
Legacy 514ce finishing touches: Faux tortoiseshell binding (body and fretboard) with black and white top purfling, mother-of-pearl small diamond fretboard inlays. Green abalone three-ring rosette, ebony bridge pins with green abalone dots, gloss-finish body and satin-finish neck, faux tortoiseshell pickguard and Taylor gold tuning machines.
